TJ's latest news... Closing for Dine-In only from this weekend. With all the issues in Melbourne, people sneaking out, strange faces a plenty in Mansfield and quite a few in Jamo itself ... and with CV now on the doorsteps .... thinking its best to suspend dining in at our little place for the time being until things settle down. TAKE AWAYS still on in full action ... TakeAways OPEN as usual. New Winter open days .. Friday, Saturday & Sundays only. But ... if any locals ... LOCALS ... want a group Dine-In experience, just let us know, any night, private ... 10 to 15 people....they are a great night between the fireplaces, the cocktails & the very yummy food ...
Takeaway tonight...see the specials page too
Chef, Wili, cooks traditional Thai food. It's spicy, it’s flavorsome and it's as authentic as you will get this side of Bangkok. Fresh ingredients, homemade curries and sauces, some imported direct from Thailand and above all…. attention to providing a taste sensation you will never forget.
Please be warned, it is spicy, and unless you advise otherwise, you will get food as cooked in Wili’s home country, Thailand. Please advise the level of spice you can handle. If in doubt, start off mild and ramp it up next time if you can handle it. Also, please advise of any allergies and/or dislikes/intolerances. We can accommodate your needs very easily IF we are notified first.
All of our ingredients are, as much as humanely possible, being sourced as organic, free range and local. It's our utmost desire to expand our list of ingredients sourced wholly from local areas as close to Jamieson producers as possible, and working outwards as required…but only from Australian small farmers and producers where possible.
Get ready for the taste sensation.
The Colonial Bank, in Bank Street Jamieson, was first opened in 1868 under the management of Edwin Fitzroy. Edwin remained as manager until 1884, having his farewell at the nearby Junction Hotel where he was presented with a purse of 50 guineas.
The Jamieson branch of the Colonial Bank continued, under various managers, until 1918. At this time it was merged with the National Bank, and so became the Jamieson branch of the National Bank under the management of Kenneth McLennan.
Finally, in 1925, the National Bank closed its Jamieson Branch, then under the management of Mr. Sleeman.
In January 1961, the nearby Junction Hotel, built in 1861, sadly burned down. This was just months before the town’s centenary celebration, much of which was to be held in at the Junction Hotel. After much deliberation, then owner, Mrs Dorothy Denholm, decided to carry on a temporary bar in the unused Colonial Bank building.
Since then the old bank building has been used for various restaurants. Now, under the ownership of descendants of the Wheeler family, one of the many pioneering families of the Jamieson township and surrounds, the Colonial Bank Building is host to Wili's Thai Junction.
Wili, Daryl, Christian & Caela warmly welcome you to enjoy their hospitality.
